For the last 50 years, Democrats have tried passing legislation to make the District of Columbia the 51st state, and their Bill has been reintroduced this term in the House of Representatives.


If this Bill passes, the Democrats will get two additional Senate votes and one additional House vote – making it easier for them to remain in the majority and push their progressive agenda.
