Republican Senator Joni Ernst isn’t wasting time reversing the disastrous immigration policies of the Biden-Harris administration.
She recently reintroduced a bill that would end a glaring loophole in America’s immigration code by requiring ICE to take into custody illegal immigrants who are arrested and charged with causing the death or serious injury of another.
The bill, commonly referred to as “Sarah’s Law”, is named after Sarah Root, a 21-year-old woman from Iowa who was killed by a drunk driver in the U.S. illegally. The loophole allowed the suspect to post bail and avoid facing a court since ICE was not required to file a detainer to keep him in custody. To this day, Sarah’s killer has not been held accountable.
By eliminating this loophole, Senator Ernst’s bill would be a major step in the right direction in standing up for American citizens and cracking down on illegal immigrants who commit violent crimes.
