America is best when it builds things here at home. But, over the past few decades, we’ve slowly shipped more and more of our manufacturing jobs to countries like India and China.
In 1960, American manufacturing made up around 25% of our GDP and 25% of all U.S. jobs. Today, less than 10% of our GDP comes from homemade goods, and just 8% of all jobs are in manufacturing.
President Trump has taken critical steps to bring hundreds of thousands of jobs back home. But to truly reverse this devastating trend, leaders in Washington must prioritize reinvesting in America’s workforce and cutting ridiculous regulations that do nothing but make it harder for small business owners to create new jobs on home soil.
We’re on the verge of another technological revolution, and it’s vital that we revive American manufacturing before countries like China completely take over.
