Stop the AI Verification Trap: Protect Connecticut Innovation

Connecticut is considering a bill that would make us the first state to create a government-run verification system for AI. While it is framed as a harmless pilot, this bill will create a pay-to-play environment that punishes local innovators and rewards trial lawyers.

This bill will create a state-sanctioned monopoly by giving just five gatekeepers total control over what counts as safe AI. For entrepreneurs, the choice is impossible: pay for an expensive government stamp of approval or face massive legal risks. If a founder does not participate, lawyers will use that lack of a state stamp as proof of misconduct in court, even if the technology is sound.

This bill will crush local entrepreneurs. While Big Tech can afford armies of lawyers to handle new red tape, our local innovators cannot. This makes Connecticut a risky, over-regulated place to start a business, driving talent and investment to other states. We should not be a guinea pig for a regulatory experiment that was rushed through without a voice for the creators.

Connecticut must be a home for innovation, not a place where small businesses are buried under paperwork and legal threats.

Will you add your name to tell the legislature to remove the AI verification pilot from this bill to keep Connecticut competitive and protect our local entrepreneur community?
