In his efforts to break up the monopolies that were unfairly preventing small businesses and entrepreneurs from having a seat at the table, President Theodore Roosevelt said, “We demand that big business give the people a square deal.”
Now, more than 100 years later, America is facing a new monopoly that threatens to hinder the future of American innovation: Big Tech.
A monopoly on Artificial Intelligence development prevents small companies from competing in the market, limits the potential for American-made technological advancements, and gives China a leg up in the race to become the world’s biggest tech superpower.
With so much money and power, big companies can lobby state and local governments to keep implementing layers of regulations that only they can comply with – putting small businesses and entrepreneurs at a disadvantage that’s nearly impossible to overcome.
