Every parent deserves the right to determine what type of education is best for their children and what they’re taught in schools.
That’s why Senate Republicans recently introduced the ‘Student Empowerment Act’. If advanced, parents would have more control of their 529 college savings plan by being able to use those funds on eligible expenses for K-12 public, private, and homeschool education.
The bill would allow parents to use those funds to pay for things like school curriculum, textbooks, tutoring, and testing fees. It would also allow parents of students with disabilities to pay for educational therapies and other services to help disadvantaged students learn in a way that is customized to their needs.
School choice is the civil rights issue of the 21st century. And after years of leftists trying to give more power to teachers' unions and administrative bureaucrats, it's time to put power back in the hands of parents.
If you stand with Senate Republicans’ efforts to expand parents’ autonomy over their children’s education, sign our petition and urge Congress to pass the ‘Student Empowerment Act’.
