Protect Firefighting Materials!

Massachusetts Governor Healey must amend H 4975! This bill dangerously oversimplifies the issue of PFAS in firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE). By proposing a blanket ban on all PFAS, this bill risks leaving our firefighters unprotected against the very dangers they face daily. Not all PFAS are harmful, and treating them as a single, harmful substance is not based on sound science.

This overly broad approach could lead to firefighters using improper equipment, putting them—and families like yours—at risk. We need a more nuanced and scientifically grounded policy that distinguishes between different PFAS chemistries and focuses on truly harmful substances.

Sign this petition to urge Governor Healey to amend H 4975. Let’s ensure our firefighters have the protection they need without compromising public safety or spreading unnecessary fear.
